Changes Ahead for Anthem Participants

10/22/2010

Anthem Lumenos Health Statements now mailed quarterly

Beginning January 1, 2011, Lumenos Health Statements will be sent quarterly instead of monthly. The final monthly statement, which will include September's health plan activity, will be sent in October. The first quarterly statement, which will include a wrap-up of the member's health plan activity for October through December 2010, will be sent to members in February 2011.

Members will be notified of this change in several ways:

  • Final monthly statement for September in the section "Making the Most of Your Plan"
  • October Healthy Tip mailing and email, to be delivered in mid to late October

Indiana has new guidelines for controlled substance medications

Members who have recently filled a prescription for a controlled substance medication will receive a letter from Express Scripts with important information about new Indiana law. The law requires specific information to be provided on all controlled substance prescriptions dispensed for all Indiana residents.
  • The state of Indiana requires all pharmacies to provide a monthly report of all controlled substance prescriptions dispensed to all Indiana residents along with a Controlled Substance Identification Number (CSID). The CSID is a government assigned number that is required by some states in order for controlled substances to be dispensed. The CSID number may be any one of the following personal identifiers: driver license number, state ID, passport, or military ID.
  • Express Scripts Home Delivery Pharmacy must place each member's personal CSID number on the prescription record of each controlled substance prescription filled for every Indiana resident. If the member's CSID number is not provided with his/her new or refill prescription, Express Scripts Home Delivery Pharmacy will attempt to call him/her to obtain it. If Express Scripts Home Delivery Pharmacy cannot obtain the member's personal CSID number, they will not be able to fill the new or refill the controlled substance prescription. For patients 18 years or younger, the personal CSID number of the parent or guardian should be provided.
  • It is recommended that members provide one of the acceptable CSID numbers listed above with each new or refill controlled substance prescription to prevent delays in the next prescription order. If members have questions about this specific Indiana law, they should call the phone number located on their prescription label for more information.
